Agua – Barcelona
(scroll down for English version)

I know, I’ve been silent for a while…too many weekends, trips, job commitments (it may seem I’m always on holiday, but, well, they are a major part of my life…), such an hot weather in Florence to be tired at the only idea of opening your laptop….and here retarded posts are stockpiling.

I have quite an interesting amount of new tips for you, though….and I start immediately to recover with some hints from my last weekend in Barcelona, a city I always fall in lvoe withy, every time I get back there (well, I tell you, I would even definitely move there…)

I visited it as a tourist, oncluding every single museum, attraction, cultural sight, with my first boyfriend from the university, I went back there for the 30th birthday of an Italian friend, the classic “girl weekend” abroad with cool restaurants and night venues, beach days, bike tours and shopping. This time my reason to get back there was a bachelorette party, or “despedita de soltera”, to say it in a more indigenous way: italo-venezuelan bride living in London, the undersigned from Florence, another italian friend from Madrid and the spanish bridesmaid, that gathered all of us at her place in Barcelona for a surprise reunion, after seven years from the months we spent together at Copenhagen Business School.

A weekend in the sign of memories, then, but plenty of updates as well (that is, endless chats day and night to recover all the details that have been colouring our messy lives in the past years). And we enjoyed everything as real “local” people, thanks to the impeccable planning of the maid of honor.

I guess you don’t care that much about nigh chats, limousine city tours, latin-american dances till the sunrise and hangover sundays at home (great to feel again as the young  students we were years and years ago). I just leave you a couple of tips that might interest you in case you are in town.

Starting from Le Meridien Ra Beach Hotel and Spa, in Calafell, Catalunya, a beach at half an hour distance by car from Barcelona, perfect alternative (in case of car at your disposal) to the already known Barceloneta.
Here you find an excellent treatment: private beach with sunbeds and straw umbrellas, delicious seafood dishes to enjoy at the Beach Club and, finally, a gorgeous Spa (with jacuzzi tubs on the rooftop terrace, seaside view!)

Of course, it’s not like my beloved Foormentera, but for the typical summer daytrip it’s not that bad at all.

Let’s go back to Barcelona, and to Barceloneta beach, to talk about Agua, beachside restaurant, where – how funny – I went right during my first weekend in Barcelona with my university boyfriend. Well, I must say that eigth years later (well, I’m getting older and older, quicker and quicker…) the venue hasn’t lost any of its charm: great location along the boardwalk, great sangria, great salmon tartare….let’s say great dinner overall!
For those who feel well pumped up after paella and fideua a go-go, CDLC (one of the coolest venues in town) is right the next door. Of course, we were well pumped up and jumped in. That the night then ended up in the opposite side of the city, dancing raggaeton for hours and hours, well, that’s another story…

And that’s all from Barcelona.

My spanish trip didn’t end in this way, though. Guess where I went straight from El Prat Airport?
Well, it was already time for my yearly week of buen retiro in Formentera, how could I miss it!
(I’ve already told you about “my” isla, nothing else to add….just if you lost my tips, or wish to refresh your mind, you can find them here and here)

And after Formentera? Unfortunately I had to go back to the super cool Florence, with its 45 degrees minimum…last efforts not to melt before next summer trips…

…..hasta pronto!!!!
